The Martian Holiday

The Martian Holiday is a 5-hour creative writing course that will take your little one on an exciting journey to the Red Planet. Designed for 7-12 year olds, this course will take your child on a virtual holiday to Mars, where (s)he will encounter strange and fascinating landscapes, meet intriguing characters, and craft thrilling stories. Each hour of the course features a different lesson, from character development and world-building to using imagery and creating dialogues.

In this workshop, your child will:

Write a descriptive passage about the Martian landscape.

Write a personal narrative titled “Martian Memoirs”.

Learn the basics of informal letter writing.

Create a Martian comic strip in collaboration with his/ her peers.

Practice writing for the media in the context of the workshop.
To help your child get the most out of the course, the course also comes with a downloadable PDF workbook that includes a capsule sized summary of each lesson as well as optional at- home practice tasks. Your child will also have access to the Common Room online community, where (s)he can share their work, receive feedback, and connect with other young writers.
